A showing of images on black velvet.
Black velvet paintings have a stigma to them, cheesy, chintzy, kitchy crap that you find in flea markets and your parent’s basement. A throwback to the 70s. I want to bring black velvet into the 21st century. This show will celebrate this most maligned medium.
All work will be completed on black velvet, or to a lesser degree flocked black paper. Maximum size is 18x24 due to size constraints of the gallery in which the show will be located.
Artists are encouraged to use non traditional sizes such as 4x24 etcetera, dypticks and trypticks are permitted.
That being said We have 200ish square feet. And 15 ft ceilings so even though there is space, it will fill up fast.
Advertising will include, posters, business cards, word of mouth, internet, etc… Not that a show this awesome will need much advertising.
Artists will be encouraged to provide the blog with updates on their work, which will then be posted here so people can get super stoked.
