A showing of images on black velvet.
Black velvet paintings have a stigma to them, cheesy, chintzy, kitchy crap that you find in flea markets and your parent’s basement. A throwback to the 70s. I want to bring black velvet into the 21st century. This show will celebrate this most maligned medium.
All work will be completed on black velvet, or to a lesser degree flocked black paper. Maximum size is 18x24 due to size constraints of the gallery in which the show will be located.
Artists are encouraged to use non traditional sizes such as 4x24 etcetera, dypticks and trypticks are permitted.
That being said We have 200ish square feet. And 15 ft ceilings so even though there is space, it will fill up fast.
Advertising will include, posters, business cards, word of mouth, internet, etc… Not that a show this awesome will need much advertising.
Artists will be encouraged to provide the blog with updates on their work, which will then be posted here so people can get super stoked.

All art is due by September 1st.

NMB IS FINALLY UPON US!

Man am I stoked at how well this show has come together.

All told about 25 Artists have dropped off one or more pieces.

There is fashion, and Screenprinting and Painting and more awesome stuff than you can see all at once.

The opening reception is tonight. 8pm Milk and Cookies 250 Main Street Pawtucket RI.

Be here. Free Beer from the famous Narragansett. Free Pizza from the famous Nice Slice. Bands, Dancing, general being awesome.
